APT AT IDEAS CITY – NEW MUSEUM NY

ETHZ @ Ideas City in NYC

The invisible Feedback Loop: Architects, Infrastructure, and Public Space:

May 28, 2015

Recasting “trash” as a valuable asset, the ETH Zürich built a Pavilion in NYC using material made from discarded beverage cartons. The pavilion was designed, engineered and built by ETHZ with D. Hebel, P. Block, F. Heisel and their team.

In this context the "Invisible Feedback Loop" discussion took place.

Anna and Lorenzo described the recently completed Mariners Harbor Public Library in Staten Island and the final design for the new University Library and Central Administration in Byblos.

The proposed solutions leverage and transform the specificities of a place: history, terrain, sunlight, climate, population, and available materials into architecture.

Library buildings are part of the cultural infrastructure of campuses and cities, serving people and becoming catalysts and vital social centers.
