We recently met Swiss Ambassador Barras and his Consuls at Mariners Harbor Library on Staten Island to discuss its positive impact on the neighborhood. We reviewed the open shell form of the building; the roles of natural light, views, and open spaces in the design; and the impact of its colorful furniture on young visitors. The Librarian reiterated how these elements bring to life the feeling of community.
