Completed 2018

The South Bronx Academy for Applied Media Library is located in a 1974 school building in the Bronx, NY.

Various spaces and rooms were required for this large school library catering to teens.

APT manipulated the ceilings heights, colors and lighting patterns to create several areas within the very large space. Colorful custom designed computer tables create a special IT area, while glazed walls provide privacy for the teachers’ meeting room and librarian’s office.

Local craftsmen built the the custom wood furniture and the variegated ceilings.

The library’s materials and technologies, the ergonomic furniture, and the ceiling with LED lighting respond to the latest environmental and health requirements developed with the client.

This project is part of a transformative series of APT Architecture school libraries that are expanding their educational purposes by rebuilding communities through culture.
